Tips for the Tour

• Your guided walking tour will last about one hour. Be sure to tour our restrooms before you tour the cave as there are no bathrooms in the cave.

• SHOES! We walk on 265 concrete stairs and straight walkways that are often wet. Wear closed toed shoes that you are comfortable walking in for a long period of time. (Flip flops, sandals, and high heels are not suggested.)

• Our cave remains at 63 degrees Fahrenheit year-round however, with the high humidity it feels closer to 70 degrees. If you think you may get cold at 70 degrees you might bring a light jacket.

• What you choose to wear is up to you. Some people prefer to wear exercise clothing, others prefer shorts and a t-shirt, others prefer jeans and a long-sleeve. Think about the temperature outside vs in the cave, and wear something that you would be okay with walking in for several hours that you wouldn’t mind possibly getting wet.

• The amount of water inside the cave is directly tied to the amount of rain we have outside. If the week you visit has been quite rainy, you can expect the cave to be wet. When water is entering the cave at an excessive rate, we will hand out ponchos.

• No food, drinks, candy, gum, tobacco products, etc. are allowed in the cave. Please be prepared to spend the hour without these items unless otherwise discussed with your tour guide.

• NOTICE: You will not have cell service inside the cave. You may have difficulty finding service on the rest of the property as well, but we will help find the best spots for reception if you need!

• Disrupting the cave environment (i.e., touching the walls and cave formations, removing formations) is against the law. We bring you very close to the walls and formations, so please help us preserve our cave by holding onto our handrails, rather than the walls.

• Plan to enjoy above ground activities after the cave tour! We offer gemstone mining, mini-golf, nature trails, a family game park, and more. We have covered and uncovered picnic tables if you’d like to bring your own lunch. There is a ton of fun to be had here at TRC!
